I won’t say that I’m addicted to the show Intervention, but I’m definitely going through a stint of obsession. Both Gawker and Jezebel have written about the episode with Caylee, a 21 year-old girl with an addiction to cocaine/heroine and an eating disorder that she developed from imprinting on her anorexic/bulimic mother.
I can’t decide what makes me watch these shows. During the actual intervention, it feels cathartic when friends and family members are reading letters begging the addict to go to a facility. There’s still that fear that she or he won’t go, but finally they’re convinced when everyone in the room is blotchy faced and snotty nosed.
The saddest part about this episode is how weak the father’s will is and how sad and afraid Caylee is about her mother abandoning her.
After the jump, the full episode.
